Remodel and contemporary extension to this historic home on the water’s edge
The dream
Create a state-of-the-art family home while preserving the character and integrity of one of Bosham’s finest listed homes.
The details
We love the two-story glass entrance, the floating staircase, and one of the world’s best views.
A perfect blend of old and new
Extensive remodel and extension to a listed Bosham waterfront property in an area of outstanding natural beauty. This project included two stories of new living accommodation, together with a completely remodelled interior layout, new garden design, pool, custom furniture, and cutting-edge technology, including full home automation.
The design approach utilised a frameless glass link with floating bridge between the original house and the new extension to ensure maximum light and minimal impact upon the original house. This strategy reveals the original listed home to the observer and provides a less dominant and more detached extension. The glazed extension touches the listed building without properly tying itself in, allowing the historic form to remain visible and yet contrast with the modern addition.
