Edwardian Gem – Renovation and Extension

With very busy lives, our clients asked us to help create their British dream home – with light open spaces for living, working, the grown children, the baby (a very large Rhodesian Ridgeback) and lots of areas for entertaining, both indoors and out. Starting with the great bones of an Edwardian property (that was dark and in need of repair), the vision was to create a relationship between old and new. We came up with a series of proposals, including a contemporary zinc extension and internal reconfiguration without the need for extensive redevelopment of the site. The resulting design created a clear separation between working and living. The kitchen has become the heart of the home with the living room, dining and bar adjacent to allow for seamless connectivity. The openings within the social spaces are permeable allowing the beautifully landscaped garden to become an extension of these areas.

The existing floor plan was opened to create a direct route from the main entrance through to the kitchen, and beyond to the garden, creating a sense of journey and openness. The interiors of this gorgeous home have been carefully considered in every detail and combine both contemporary and vintage finds. A club style custom home bar and wine room have been masterfully crafted, and a bright Neptune kitchen has been fitted. Curated pieces of art have been selected that have special meaning to clients. Outside, a swimming pool, hard and soft landscaping, entertaining areas and an outdoor kitchen have been designed for privacy, relaxation and fun.
