Cantilevered contemporary home in Chichester Harbour AONB
The dream
To create a contemporary home that maximises views, nestles into the beautiful landscape and prioritises sustainability and outdoor living.
The details
We love the floating cantilevered design that is orientated to make the most of the 180-degree view (one of the best in West Sussex!), the natural material palette, and the multiple terraces for enjoying nature and relaxing with the extended family.
Designed with understated sophistication
The ‘Floating House’ in Birdham, West Sussex is a new build contemporary waterfront home that received planning permission in March 2024. Our architects and interior designers have created something very special to reflect the unique harbourside location with 180-degree views of the estuary. The design is nestled into the landscape using stacked cantilevered forms orientated to the best views. We have used materials that reflect the local landscape, and the entire build is aimed with sustainability and the enhancement of the natural beauty and wildlife at the forefront.
The Floating House is a primary five-bedroom residence designed for multigenerational living and entertaining, with two bedrooms on the ground floor to accommodate less-mobile relatives and guests. The clients’ dream was to take advantage of estuary and sunset views, whilst also making the most of rural views and maximising Internal natural light. The outside space sees the inclusion of a pool and multiple terraces that nestle into the landscape.
The brilliant team at New Square Property is currently building this one-of-a-kind forever home. Watch this space for more.
