Renovation of a historical gem on the Bognor Regis seafront
The Dream
To transform a run-down former hotel into a sympathetic residential and commercial development that brings new life to the community.
The details
We are humbled the hard work and craftsmanship from many individuals who have come together collectively to breathe new life into this prominent building.
Designed with the community in mind
As part of our ongoing work with developers, Metamorph Management, we are proud to be the architects for the redevelopment of the historic Royal Hotel in Bognor Regis, which has presided over the historical part of the town’s seafront since 1888. We have designed 27 contemporary apartments while preserving the building’s heritage exterior — all just a stone’s throw from the beach.
The ambitious regeneration of The Royal Hotel in Bognor Regis has resurrected a building that has been subject to disrepair, vacancy, and unsympathetic alterations. As a result, the character and appearance of the conversation area has significantly improved. giving pride to the residents and local community.
“Showcasing the unique heritage of both the building and Bognor Regis through design, development and promotion, The Royal is the embodiment of the ambition, innovation and conviction required to reposition the town on the national stage.”

“The support and reaction of the locals has been amazing. Feedback from the new residents has been heartening, and there seems to be a collective pride that finally someone had taken the chance on this building to contribute to the regeneration of The Esplanade, and town as a whole.”

“I’ve seen the architectural potential of The Royal since my childhood, watched it decay over the years and I’m now honoured to have played a role in its resuscitation with designs that both pay tribute to the past and promote sympathetic contemporary design for the future of Bognor Regis.”
